Geezer beach smack down!

The action at Geezer Beach might be viewed as a deliberate provocation. Tyranny should be opposed at any level. The incremental erosion of personal freedom extends to every citizen. The apparent disregard for public opinion by the bureau creates an adversarial climate. Consider the childlike argument put forth in recent press releases. It begs the question, how many adults occupy positions at the bureau? At some level of authority someone should be able to effect a compromise or rescind the decision.

At the very least, somebody should attempt to construct a believable explanation. Why be timid about transparency? If there exist some pertinent facts to support the decision, why not be forthcoming and present them for clarification.? Maybe the bureau needs someone on retainer with a capacity for creative and critical thought who could compose press releases and policy statements. Perhaps some geezers could serve as consultants. They may have a lot of free time now that they can no longer go fishing.

Geezers may consider forming a troubleshooting committee to ferret out and identify unknown and imaginary safety threats. They might combine meetings with cribbage tournaments. This would not only be convenient but may serve as a reminder of their newly defined place in society.

Age discrimination and suppression of rights targeting senior citizens and/or disabled persons would appear to be at odds with social norms and government policies. There are, no doubt, many cases that have been litigated in courts that would define precedent for such matters. By nature, geezers are not whiners or attention grabbers. Most would prefer low-profile, amicable resolutions. A little common courtesy and consideration would go a long way towards achieving a mutually acceptable outcome. There should be some vehicle or pathway where all concerned could exchange ideas and opinions.

What is accomplished by denying access to the beach? What advantage or benefit does the bureau derive from this action? How does this action affect the people who have heretofore enjoyed access to the water’s edge? It seems there are missing pieces to the puzzle. Mutual understanding and respect should be obtainable. Let’s show the cards and attempt to level the field.
