Raider football fundraiser well attended

Raider football fans attended a Thursday Night Lights fundraiser at the Lake Roosevelt football field Thursday, marking the first success for a new booster club

The event was well attended, with the parking lot looking as crowded as it is during games.

The Raider football players were introduced to the crowd by name and jersey number before running drills. Those included lineman contests, a seven-on-seven drill, and 11-on-11 style play. "There's some pretty big boys out there," a fan could be heard saying.

There were two raffles at the event. One of the raffles was for two tickets to see the Seattle Seahawks play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 8, which went to Alice Marchand (the Seahawks won 21-20).

The other raffle is for a quarter beef from Egbert Cattle Company and a chest freezer donated by Loepps Furniture, the winner of which will be announced at halftime at the Raiders' home game this Friday, which starts at 7 p.m.

Eight reserved parking spots were sold at $100 apiece to eight fans. The parking spots are located above the bleachers, offering those onlookers a good view of the games.

In addition to the $800 raised by the parking spot auctions, the raffles and a pulled-pork dinner raised $1,700, making for a grand total of $2,500 raised for the Raider football team.

"Thanks, everyone, for a huge success!" Raider Coach and Athletic Director Tim Rasmussen said.

The event was organized by parents of Raider football players and the Lake Roosevelt Athletic Booster Club.
