Lady Raiders lose in Manson

The Lady Raiders lost to the Manson Lady Trojans on the road on Sept. 12 in four close sets, losing the first set 25-16, winning the second 25-21, then losing the next two sets 25-20 and 28-26.

Head Coach Teri Sue Reed was enthusiastic about her team nonetheless.

"Right now our most outstanding player is Jozlyn Hansen," she said. "She plays the Libero position and is in the 88% for accuracy on both digs and serve receive. That's a phenomenal percentage! She is dialed in for sure! She is in the running for best Libero in the league this year."

Hansen had 28 digs for the night.

"My biggest surprise this year is the advanced play from Emma Marchand," Reed continued. "She is a talented athlete and is turning into an amazing volleyball player."

"Also standing out so far this year are our two captains, Mikaylah Thompson and Megan Abel," Reed said. "Great leadership and good hitting for both so far."

Thompson led the team with five aces and 12 kills during the game. Audrey Hansen and Ellie Hansen each had three blocks.

"Our number-one goal this year is teamwork," Reed said. "We are really changing our attitudes towards each other, supporting each other, and playing well as a team."

The Lady Raiders play again this Thursday in Waterville at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Lady Raiders will host Tonasket at 6:30 p.m. in their first home game on their newly renovated court in Coulee Dam.
