Raider runners competed at Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee on Saturday.
“The course was trying this weekend,” Head Coach Ann Green said. “Runners are starting to feel all the runner’s pains: shin splints, hurting hips, knees and ankles.”
Colton Jackson was the top finisher for the Raiders in the 5,000-meter race, placing 63rd out of 106 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 25 seconds on a course that was mostly grass with a couple hills, and on a day that was “just a bit too warm, but sunny,” Green said.
Kyle Edmo placed 74th with a time of 19:55.00; Germaine Sittingcrow finished 96th in 22:51.00; Alonzo Adams finished 97th in 22:55.00; and Tyler Palmer finished 105th in 26:09.00.
Chase Marchand finished second in the eighth-grade boys’ 1.55-mile race with a time of 8:50.00, three seconds behind Will Halpin of Liberty Bell.
“Times were slightly slower,” Green said. “With all the hurts, it’s to be expected. I still feel they ran outstandingly and am still proud of them, regardless.”
The Raiders were scheduled to compete in Okanogan yesterday, results of which will be reported in next week’s Star.
