Local writers invited to meet

Writer’s Day in the Coulee will be held at the Grand Coulee Dam Seniors on Main Street in Grand Coulee on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Bring your books and join us,” a flier for the event reads. R.S.V.P. to birds@ifiber.tv by Oct. 21. Writers are encouraged to bring their books, sign them and sell them, and just visit with other writers.

The event is sponsored by Them Dam Writers Online, Coulee Pioneer Museum, and Electric City.

Vacant mosquito board seat filled

Robert McClanahan has accepted a vacant seat on the board of the Grant County Mosquito Control District #2. The Electric City Council approved the appointment at their Oct. 8 meeting. McClanahan recently moved to Electric City after retiring as a mechanical engineer, a letter from him included in the agenda packet states.

Tourism workshop here tomorrow

The Okanogan County Tourism Council is developing a county-wide Tourism Destination Master Plan and you’re invited. As part of the planning process, the project team is holding workshop sessions around the county. One is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center, 203 Main Street, Grand Coulee.

No Coulee Dam council meeting tonight

Coulee Dam’s town council won’t meet tonight (Wednesday, Oct.23) due to lack of a quorum, city hall said Monday. The next regular council meeting is set for Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.

Half taxes due

Grant County taxpayers are reminded that real, mobile home, personal property 2nd half taxes are due by October 31. If you are sending your payment by mail, please make sure your envelope is postmarked on or before October 31st to avoid being considered delinquent. Taxes can also be paid online on our website http://www.grantcountywa.gov under the Treasurer’s Tab. Any questions regarding your taxes, please call 754‑2011 x4299.
