Stepping it up

The Lake Roosevelt High School band performs in their new uniforms during halftime of the Raider football game Oct 25. The band received 60 uniforms in total, Music Teacher Karen Pace said, costing about $3,500 and paid for with grant money and money donated from local groups. The band will perform at a halftime show at a future Raider basketball game and use them during marching season in May when they'll perform during the Colorama parade and the Lilac Festival in Spokane. Pace said the musicians love them, and have been taking selfies and group shots while wearing them to show them off. At the game, the band performed "Smoke on the Water," by Deep Purple; "Seven Nation Army," by The White Stripes; "Holiday," by Greenday; and "Paint It Black," by The Rolling Stones. - Jacob Wagner photo
