Volleyball team wins two, drops one

Lake Roosevelt squeaked by Manson with a 3-2 volleyball win in Coulee Dam Oct. 15, the first of two close calls and one loss for the week.

The Lady Raiders won the first two sets against Manson, 25-18 and 25-15, but Manson won the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-21 to tie the game up at two sets apiece. LR won the tiebreaking fifth set, 15-9.

Mikaylah Thompson stood out in the game, leading the team with 16 kills, four aces, and 14 digs.

Ellie and Audrey Hansen had four blocks each at the net.

Megan Abel led the team in assists with 15.

LR lost in Brewster Oct. 17 to the league-leading Lady Bears in three sets: 25-9, 25-10, and 25-16.

But the Lady Raiders pulled out another close victory Saturday as they hosted Waterville-Mansfield, winning 3-2.

LR won the first set 25-18, dropped the next two 25-23 and 25-22, won the fourth set 25-15, and won a close tiebreaking fifth set 17-15.

Standout performers included Thompson, who led the team with 12 kills and eight aces. Ellie Hansen had five blocks at the net; Emma Marchand got in 21 digs; and Abel contributed 23 assists.

The Lady Raiders' next game is scheduled for Oct. 24 when they'll host the Tonasket Lady Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Then on Oct. 29, they host Soap Lake, also at 6:30 p.m.
