Kyle Edmo will run in the state cross country competition Saturday, after making the cut at Moses Lake last week.
The senior placed 27th out of 88 runners in the 5,000-meter race at the District 5-6 1B/2B competition at Blue Heron Park in Moses Lake on Oct. 30, from where the top 28 placers advance.
Edmo finished in a time of 19 minutes, 19.34 seconds and will compete at the state race Nov. 9 at the 1B/2B Washington Interscholastic Activities Association State Cross Country Meet at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco with a start time of 11:30 a.m.
"The race was very intense, and to add to it the evening was very cold," Head Coach Ann Green said. "I saw pure determination on our runners. Unfortunately the team didn't make it; however, placing 27th, Kyle did, and will be our lone representative in Pasco this coming weekend."
"Kyle's had an amazing season, and I am super proud he made it, especially for his senior year," Green continued. "His mom told me he had been doing six days a week of practice, so I am happy to see that hard work paying off."
There will be a state send-off assembly for Edmo on Friday at 8:45 a.m. in the Raider Hub at Lake Roosevelt in Coulee Dam.
