Raiders are football league champions

Will host district crossover game on Friday

The Raider football team returned from Brewster with a new Bear-skin rug, having killed the Bears 57-6 in the final game of the regular season last Friday, finishing as the undisputed champions of the Central Washington 2B league, undefeated in league play.

In the first quarter, Cameron St. Pierre scored a touchdown on a 38-yard run, and later quarterback Hunter Whitelaw ran in one-yard touchdown.

In the second quarter, St. Pierre ran an 11-yard touchdown run, and Whitelaw carried the ball in for 15-yard run.

Malachi Rasmussen, also in the second quarter, returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown.

Jaimen Schmidt kicked a 28-yard field goal for the Raiders, before an 11-yard pass put the Brewster Bears on the board, closing the first half with a 37-6 Lake Roosevelt lead.

In the second half, St. Pierre had two more touchdown runs, from five and 18 yards, and Brit Egbert ran it in from the two-yard line for the final points of the game.

Schmidt hit six of eight extra point attempts.

Offensively, St. Pierre rushed for 240 yards and four touchdowns, and Whitelaw rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

Whitelaw also threw for 70 yards.

Defensively, Bobcat Flowers led the Raiders with 10 tackles, followed by Trevon Johnson with eight.

The Raiders finished the regular season with a win-loss record of 4-0 in the league, 7-1 overall.

They’ll host District 5’s Liberty Christian Patriots (2-4, 3-6), from Richland, in Coulee Dam Friday night at 7.
