Trees of Sharing season has set up schedule

Trees of Sharing 2019 begins its thirty-something season this week. Begun in the early 1980's, the Trees of Sharing program is a special way for Grand Coulee Dam area residents to get in the giving spirit and anonymously bless local needy children up to age 18 living in the Grand Coulee Dam area, as far north as Belvedere, who might not otherwise receive a gift at Christmastime.

If you know eligible children, please take time to fill out Trees of Sharing slips for them. The slips and collection boxes are located at Safeway, Coulee Family Medicine, and Harvest Foods. (Note that school-age children must be enrolled in the Grand Coulee Dam School District to be eligible.) The names will be coded, put on ornaments, and available the week before Thanksgiving so gift-giver residents can fulfill the wishes of the children.

This year's Trees of Sharing schedule:

• Now – November 16: Children's names may be submitted on special 'wish' slips and placed in decorated collection boxes at Safeway Pharmacy, Coulee Medical Center, or Harvest Foods.

• November 19 – December 8: Trees decorated with ornament tags with children's wishes available at North Cascades Bank, Safeway Pharmacy, Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union, and Harvest Foods. Please pick up a tag & fill the wish.

• Monday, December 9: All gifts, wrapped and with tags attached to the outside of the package, must be returned to a 'Tree' location so they can be organized for delivery.

• Saturday, December 14, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m: Trees of Sharing home delivery of gifts

Please call Linda Black, 633-3611, to volunteer with Trees of Sharing. There are opportunities to organize, shop, wrap, and deliver gifts.
