Grand Coulee
12/21 - A man driving without headlights around Martin Road told police he had been dumping old tires near Les Schwab’s trailer. He said his new tires weren’t from Les Schwab but his old ones were and he didn’t think they would mind. Police told him they would check with Les Schwab to see if they wanted to press charges.
12/23 - Police were told of a possible DUI leaving the Hi Dam Tavern toward Coulee Dam. Police didn’t locate the vehicle but informed Coulee Dam and tribal police departments about it.
12/24 - Police pulled over a vehicle at SR-174 and Spokane Way for having expired tabs. The officer recognized a female attempting to hide in the back seat as having a warrant. She was taken to jail, and the driver was allowed to go with a warning.
- An officer attempted to corral two pit bull dogs on Dill Avenue with help from the owner until the officer was called to a higher priority situation.
12/25 - Police went to Coulee Hardware where a man was putting items in a Safeway shopping cart including a shepherd’s crook, and police observed him wrapping up an extension cord.
The man stopped wrapping up the cord when police approached him. He admitted he was trying to take it. The man also had candles and de-icer from the hardware store, and food, drinks, hats, and gloves from Safeway, all of which he admitted taking. He was taken to jail for theft and banned from Safeway. The items were returned.
- Multiple people were banned from a Hill Avenue apartment following a report of pills and gemstones being stolen.
- A man reported his nephew’s bike stolen from a Hill Avenue apartment. He said he was doing his own investigation and had spoken to a man who said someone else had attempted to sell it to him.
12/27 - Police requested a charge against a woman after she reportedly parked playing loud music outside the home of a neighbor, who had a no-contact court order against her.
- An officer stood by until a tow truck arrived to remove a car that was disabled in the turn lane on Midway Avenue near Safeway with its hazard lights on.
12/28 - A man said to be jumping into traffic along Midway Avenue was told to stay out of the road.
Coulee Dam
12/16 - An officer spoke to some boys regarding a situation with conflicting stories about a disagreement and weapons. While walking home from school, two groups of boys argued. One boy said another threatened him with a knife. The other later said the first boy had brass knuckles and that he’d taken out his knife in self defense. The officer confiscated the knife, and said he would forward the information to the juvenile prosecutor.
- A woman locked her keys in her car by the casino and asked an officer to use a “slim jim” being brought there by a friend to help open it. The officer told her he couldn’t do that for liability reasons.
12/17 - A woman wanted to file assault charges on a Harvest Foods employee she said put a hand on her daughter and told her to go to a certain checkstand. Police reviewed video and found that at no point did the employee assault the girl. Police told that to the mother.
12/19 -12/22 - A woman who has a no-contact court order against a man with whom she shares a child found a note on her windshield at Harvest Foods. Police spoke to another man who drove the vehicle to Harvest Foods who said he gave the man a ride there who put the envelope on the woman’s car. A few days later, the woman reported getting text messages from the man, and said she was afraid to go to his house alone to get their child. Police went with her, she got her child, and the man was arrested on a warrant and taken to Okanogan County Jail.
12/20 - An officer was being followed closely by another vehicle from Elmer City to Coulee Dam. The officer noted he was being followed so closely he couldn’t see the vehicles front bumper in his rearview mirror. He pulled aside to let the vehicle pass, then pulled the vehicle over and cited the driver for following too closely. The driver said she felt harassed by the officer. The ticket was carried by the wind after she threw it out the window.. She drove off before the officer could bring it back to her.
12/21 - A woman on Sixth Street reported seeing a suspicious person standing in the streetlight near the museum. An officer arrived and saw no one there. The woman pointed to where she said she saw a man, but the officer didn’t see anyone there. The officer left.
12/23 - An officer assisted Okanogan County Dispatch by taking a woman wanted on a Lincoln County warrant from Disautel Pass to Grand Coulee where a Lincoln County officer took custody of her.
12/24 - Police spoke to residents of a home on Central Drive and Civic Way following a report of a barking dog. The residents said the dog had been with them all day while they were out of town. The officer wished them a merry Christmas.
12/26 - An officer helped retrieve a package delivered to the wrong address and give it to the right person. The package had $300 worth of Christmas presents in it.
- A man was taken to Okanogan County Jail on a DUI after being pulled over on the Elmer City Access Road following a hit-and-run incident at the Harvest Foods parking lot.
12/28 - An officer spoke to several people at about 4 a.m. on Cedar Street, where two women, said to be intoxicated, were asked to leave the residence. They walked to the casino and came back with a sober driver for their car. One said that she was hit and kicked but the officer noted no marks and concluded that there was no assault.
