Beverly Jean Orr-Nicholson, 62, of Nespelem, Washington, passed away in Grand Coulee, Washington, Wednesday evening, January 8, 2020. Beverly was born on Saturday, August 10, 1957, in Spokane, Washington into the home of Jimmy and Marlene Wynne-Orr. Beverly attended Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam, Washington and to say that she was an active student there would be an understatement…she was a cheerleader, member of the drill team, Indian Club, volleyball team and basketball team to name a few of her activities before graduating in 1975. She also studied at Eastern Washington University and served as a Probate Specialist at BIA Realty/Probate for 18 years. On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, Beverly Jean Orr married D. Dexter Nicholson in Nespelem, Washington. Beverly enjoyed listening to music, especially old time Rock & Roll including Elvis Presley and Country. She also loved going to Coulee Dam Casino, where in April of 2019 she won a classic bright yellow Dodge Challenger; but Bev’s greatest love was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, “She was a great Grandma!”
Predeceased by both of her parents and her step-dad: Miles “Bud” Peone, Beverly’s legacy lives on through her husband and life partner, Dexter Nicholson; children: Melissa Louie, Cassandra Waters (Austin Rosenbaum) and Angel Pakootas; grandchildren: Konner Mathias, Jalisa Harris, Jace Armstrong and Silver Armstrong; sisters: Cheryl Orr (Vern Ford) and Marnito Parr (Sam); her best friend: J.P. Pakootas as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Beverly’s dressing took place at 2 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2020, at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee, Washington. Her memorial service took place on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the long house in Nespelem.
