Raiders defeat Bears, Mountain Lions, Shockers

But lose to Odessa Tigers

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders had a busy week of games, winning three but suffering their first loss of the season in Odessa.

LR hosted Brewster on Jan. 7 when they defeated the Bears 67-53.

The Raiders trailed Brewster 34-30 at the end of the half, but outscored the Bears 18-6 in the third quarter and 19-14 in the fourth.

Hunter Whitelaw led the Raiders with 15 points; Sam Wapato contributed 13; Tyler Jordan put up 11; Cameron St. Pierre scored 10; Soarin' Marchand scored eight; Jonathan Cante scored seven; and Amad George scored three.

The Raiders hosted the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions Jan. 9, winning 75-17.

Marchand led LR with 18 points, followed by Cante, 13; Whitelaw, 11; Jordan, 10; Wapato, nine; CJ Saxon, six; Kyle Edmo, three; and St. PIerre, two.

The Raiders played on the road against the Shockers in Waterville Jan. 11, demolishing them 92-10.

Marchand again led the Raiders with 17 points, followed by Sam Wapato, 16; George, 12; Saxon, 10; Jordan, nine; Cante, nine; Edmo, eight; St. Pierre, five; Tyson Nicholson, three; and Whitelaw, two.

Head Coach Jeremy Crollard spoke to the success so far this season and the large point margins in the Raider victories.

"I think it's a combination of how deep our team is and the fact that the bottom teams in our league are having a down year," he said. "Our team defense right now is playing at a very high level. We have 10 guys who can all play and contribute each game, so when I pull my starters my subs have been playing very well. Plus having seven seniors on this team, they have high expectations for themselves and they work hard every day to get better as a team."

The Raiders played in Odessa Monday night, where the Tigers handed them their first loss of the season, 61-54.

Leading scorers for the Raiders were Jordan, who scored 16 points, and Wapato, who scored 13.

The Raiders have a 7-0 league win-loss record, 9-1 overall, ahead of Brewster (7-1,10-2).

A home game against Manson was scheduled for last night, results of which will be reported in next week's Star.

They are scheduled to go to Bridgeport on Friday, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m.

The next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 21, when they'll host the Okanogan Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
