Lincoln County jail stats noted

Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers reported Friday that the county jail held 755 inmates in 2019, which, classified by crime, included:

• Dept. of Corrections Detainer — 45%

• Pre-Sentence Felon —13%

• Pre-Sentence Criminal Misdemeanor — 12%

• Pre-Sentence Traffic Misdemeanor — 9%

• Other holds, including non-DOC Contract Agencies 9%

• Pre-Sentence DUI — 7%

• Post-Sentence Felon — 6%

• Post-Sentence Traffic Misdemeanor — 4%

• Post-Sentence Criminal Misdemeanor — 4%

• Post-Sentence DUI — 3%.

The jail is staffed by nine corrections/communications deputies and two command staff — the jail superintendent and the 911 coordinator.

CAPRD meeting date changes

Commissioners for the Coulee Area Park and Recreation District voted Monday to move their meetings to the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The time suits commissioners schedules better, and also is better timing for them to pay their bills, they said.

McCrae to run for judge

Kevin McCrae, a Grant County Chief Deputy Prosecutor, declared his candidacy for Grant County Superior Court Judge, Position 2, the position currently held by Judge John D. Knodell.

McCrae has been a Grant County deputy prosecutor for the past 10 years. He is currently the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for civil and appellate cases and has been the County’s lead appellate attorney since 2012.
