Voters can look to coming ballot for choices

Ballots for Washington’s primary elections must be mailed out by county election offices by Friday, and local voters will have options from which to choose no matter which county or district they live in.

In the Grant County Commissioner District #1 race, the candidates are: Danny Stone, of Hartline; Mark S. Wanke, of Ephrata; and Earl Romig, of Moses Lake. All candidates are listed as Republicans.

In the Grant County Commissioner District #2 race, the candidates are Rob Jones and Tom Taylor, both Republicans from Moses Lake. 

In Okanogan County, incumbent Chris Branch of Omak wants to retain his seat at the Commissioner District #1 position, running against Shauna Beerman, also of Omak. Branch states no party preference. Beerman is a Republican. 

In the Okanogan County Commissioner District #2 race, Republican and incumbent Andy Hover of Winthrop is running against Democrat Katie Haven of Twisp.

In Douglas County, Dan Sutton is the lone candidate for the County Commissioner District #1, and Kyle Steinburg is the lone candidate for the County Commissioner District #2 position. Both are Republicans from East Wenatchee.

County commissioners serve four-year terms.

Larry Schaapman, of Quincy, is the lone candidate for the Grant County Public Utility District Commissioner District #3 position, and Tom Flint of Ephrata is the lone candidate for the Grant County PUD Commissioner At Large position. 

In Lincoln County, Jeff Barkdull is running against Dan B. Johnson for superior court  judge.

A Grand Coulee candidate has filed to run against the man who represents most of Central Washington in Congress. Tracy “Justice” Wright is seeking the seat in Congress held by Dan Newhouse representing Washington state’s 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives Wright, a Republican, faces five other candidates, including Newhouse, of Yakima, also a Republican. That position serves a two-year term. 

Also from Grand Coulee, Cameron Whitney is running for Commissioner of Public Lands as a Republican against six other candidates, including Democratic incumbent Hilary Franz of Seattle. That position is for a four-year term.

In the Legislative District 12 State Representative Position #1 race, for a two-year term, the candidates are Democrat Adrianne Moore of Winthrop and Republican Keith Goehner of Leavenworth. 

In the Legislative District 12 State Representative Position #2 race, the lone candidate is Mike Steele, the incumbent Republican from Chelan.

In the state senate race for Legislative District 12, Republican incumbent Brad Hawkins is running unopposed from East Wenatchee.

In the Legislative District 13 State Representative Positon #1 race, the candidates are Democrat Eduardo Castañeda-Díaz of Quincy, John ‘the man’ Malan of Quincy, listed as a “Classical Democrat,” and Tom Dent, a Republican from Moses Lake.

In the Legislative District 13 State Representative Positon #2 race, a two-year term, the lone candidate is Alex Ybarra, a Republican from Quincy.
