Kitty passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020, after a brief bout with cancer. She was born November 13, 1951, in Coulee Dam, Washington to proud parents Art and Dot Kelly.
Raised in Electric City always surrounded by pets: dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and anything her and sister Debby could drag home. Kitty was a 12-year vet of Grand Coulee High School and has many long time friends from that time. Her humor was impeccable and had a love for Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, comic books, The Avengers and Marvel movies. We called her our Trekie Nerd.
After high school she attended Business School in Spokane, Washington. In 1971 she started her 36 year career at the USBR. Kitty started as a supply clerk in the warehouse; she broke barriers to be the first woman promoted to warehouseman; later, she was promoted to property supervisor. Also in 1971 she married Keith Powell, which produced their precious daughter Jessica in 1986. Kitty was the perfect mother to Jessica, always showing love and laughter. Always having cats, her last two were really special, Bert and Bowie, her fur babies.
Preceded in death by parents Art and Dot; all grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She is survived by daughter, Jessica; sister and brother-in-law Debby and Kim Clark; nephew Andy Clark and family; niece Mandy Lindly and family; lots of cousins and friends.
Per her request there will be no services and in lieu of flowers please donate to any animal shelter in her name.
RIP our Trekie Nerd!
