Button drawings each day next week
The Colorama parade will be held like normal along it’s Midway Avenue route, but button raffles will be held online with multiple prize drawings held over multiple days.
“The parade is on!” Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rachel Haven told The Star in an email.
Haven received official word that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will be opening B Street, which runs near the fire station they are constructing, as an alternate route which allows Midway Avenue to be used for the parade.
Colorama buttons are also out and for sale at over 30 local businesses. Buttons double as festival promoters and raffle tickets for prizes.
The button prize drawings will be held each night from May 3-7 in live Facebook videos, with two to three drawings each night.
The drawing video will be posted to the chamber’s website, grandcouleedam.org, and the winning numbers will be posted in The Star the following week if recipients haven’t come to collect their prizes.
“We thought that we could use the button raffle online as a way to talk about what to expect at this year’s Colorama, talk about the new kids’ festival zone, and get everyone excited for the weekend’s events,” Haven said about the decision to do the drawings online throughout the week, rather than the traditional Saturday in-person drawing at the park.
Additionally, market vendors and food vendors will be all together on the lower ball field at North Dam Park, rather than separated as was originally planned.
Haven said there will be six food vendors and 22 market vendors.
