Vincent Vargas Sr., 69, proud member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville, loving dad, grandpa and faithful friend passed away surrounded by his family early Wednesday morning, June 9, 2021, in Grand Coulee, Washington.
Vincent was born Sunday, July 15, 1951 in Nespelem, Washington, to Julian A. Sr. and Clara E. Edmonds-Vargas. He worked as a laborer for the Tribal Government in various capacities.
Always active, Vincent enjoyed going to Pow-Wows "they have the best food", Native Rodeo & Horse Races, Pool Tournaments, watching WWE - Monday Night Wrestling and rooting for the Seahawks. Vincent's greatest love though was always - spending time with his family.
Predeceased by both of his parents; sons: Jeremy Vargas and Ben Vargas; siblings: Barbara Vargas, Amy Vargas, Troy Vargas and Jesus Vargas; Vincent's legacy lives on through his friend and soulmate, Bonnie Carden; children: Kirby Vargas, Vincent "VJ" Vargas Jr. (Tanaya Dick) and Cassandra Vargas; granddaughter, Abygail Vargas; siblings: Diana Aiken (Don), Julian Vargas Jr., Clarita Vargas, Valerie Vargas-Thomas (Joe), Angel Vargas (Anna), Cecile Ralston (Larry), Mary BlueEyes, Guadalupe' Vargas, Marc Vargas and Jesse Vargas, as well as numerous Nephews and Nieces.
Services for Vincent began Monday, June 14, with a 10:00am Dressing – Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, and 7:00pm Family Wake – Nespelem Long House, Nespelem, WA. On Tuesday, June 15, 2021 a 7:00pm Community Wake was held at the Nespelem Long House. On Wednesday, June 16, (today) there will be a 9:00am Funeral Service – Nespelem Long House, followed by burial in Seaton's Grove Cemetery, Elmer City, WA.
