Gary Lee Bjorson

Gary Lee Bjorson, 72, of Grand Coulee, Washington, passed away at his home after a second battle with cancer on August 22, 2021, in Grand Coulee. Gary was born to Claude and Genevieve Bjorson on June 28, 1949, in Mason City, Washington. He graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1967.

Gary was born and raised in the Grand Coulee Dam Area. He met his wife of 47 years in October of 1972 while she was visiting a friend who was having her first child. The pair married on December 22, 1972. Gary and Sharon settled in Grand Coulee where they raised their four children: Flint, Kaylie, Jason, and Jamie.

Gary served in the United States Army from 1968-1971, also serving a tour in Vietnam from May 1969 to July 1970. Gary retired from the USBR Fire Department in 2000. After retirement Gary worked a short time for All American Spacer in Grand Coulee.

Gary enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a terrible fisherman but still tried, even though his daughters were way better at it than he was. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons and telling lies about all the deer and elk he could have gotten but chose not to.

Many people know Gary from the various activities he did throughout his life in Grand Coulee. He coached little league, played in summer softball leagues, bowling leagues, and taught many children how to shoot a gun as the Hunter Education teacher for many years.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Sharon, son James, father Claude, mother Genevieve, sister Judy Geer, sister Peggy Stout and grandson James Robert.

Gary is survived by his brother, Dale (Robin) Bjorson; sons: Flint (April Smith) Bjorson of Coulee Dam, Washington, Jason Bjorson of Post Falls, Idaho; daughters: Kaylie Bjorson of Grand Coulee, and Jamie (Christopher) Holeman of Grand Coule; grandsons: Matteao (Cassandra) Merriman, Darren and Dagan Bjorson, Zane Bjorson, Trent, Wyatt, and Xander Holeman; granddaughters: Cheyenne, Aaliyah Bjorson, Mikaylah Thompson, and Taylor Holeman; brother-in-law Frank (Patty) Reifsnider of the Seattle area, mother-in-Law Dorothy Reifsnider of Walla Walla, Washington, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
