Volleyball goes 1-2 for the week

The Lady Raiders lost two volleyball games and won one this past week, giving them a 4-3 win-loss record.

On Sept. 28, the Lady Raiders lost a home game against Manson in three sets, 25-15, 28-26, and 25-19.

"Our girls played really hard, but we got behind and just couldn't quite ever catch up," Head Coach Meagan Caudell said.

Lake Roosevelt lost another home game Sept. 30 against Okanogan in three sets, 25-23, 25-14, and 25-12.

"Manson and Okanogan were definitely both learning experiences for our team," Caudell said. "They were close, and we were all pretty bummed to come out of them with losses."

The Lady Raiders turned things around on Oct. 2, winning 3-1 against Brewster in a road game, with Brewster winning the first set 25-20, and LR winning the next three 25-21, 25-16 and 28-26.

"We knew we needed some larger changes," Caudell said about approaching the game. "We worked really hard anticipating our game with Brewster, focusing especially on mentalities. Our girls played with a whole new attitude, and they came out of the game as an entire group of leaders. The girls overcame not just the loss of the first set, which was huge, but the previous two match losses against Manson and Okanogan. They played hard against adversity, and I couldn't be prouder. I'm excited for the remainder of the season."

Aehsley Piturachsatit had 15 assists and Cheyenne Marchand contributed with nine.

Emma Marchand had 11 kills, Audrey Hansen had 13 kills, and Zalissa Finley had seven.

"It was one of the best games Z had played," Caudell said of Finley. "She looked poised and confident, and I'm excited to watch her continue to grow in our front row."

"Naveah English led from the back row with 28 digs and only one error," Caudell said. "Those stats are very good, and I was very proud of her."
