Police

10/25 - A woman reported her 2018 Ford Taurus was hit in the Safeway parking lot where her son had parked it for work. There was front end damage and the license plate had fallen off. The incident was documented for insurance purposes.

10/26 - Police observed a cut lock on a storage unit at B Street and Second Street, where the door to the unit was open. The items didn’t appear to have been rifled through. The renter of the unit said nothing seemed to be missing and put a new lock on the unit.

10/28 - While a vehicle parked on King Street was being towed for having expired tabs and being parked on a city street, the owner came out angry about the situation. He asked police how he was supposed to get a job without his vehicle. Police responded that he probably wasn’t looking anyway. The man was allowed to retrieve personal items from the vehicle before it was towed.

10/29 - A man parked on Continental Heights, wanted on a warrant, was arrested and taken to jail without incident.

10/30 - Red graffiti was found at a Coulee Boulevard ice business, a Coulee Playland storage shed, and on a house at the intersection of Coulee Boulevard and Western Avenue. The graffiti said that the name of a man was someone’s real father. Police suspect a local was responsible.

- A man from Lincoln County reported that a trailer stolen from his property was located on Ronald Drive in Grand Coulee. Police confirmed the stolen trailer with Grant County Sheriff’s officers and the man was allowed to take it back. He suspects the trailer could have been taken from a worker or owner at a local construction company. The owner periodically rents out the trailer and so the situation may be a civil issue, not criminal.

10/31 - Police responded to a report of a suspicious package that arrived at a Main Street business. The owner thought it may be a Halloween prank. The package, opened by police, was addressed to a strange name from “St. Nick” and contained a briefcase, papers, CDs, and a wig. Police photographed the contents and took them away to be destroyed.

- Suspicious juveniles were reported on a man’s Coulee Boulevard property on Halloween night. They were no longer on his property when police checked for him.

11/1 - A Grand Coulee man reported that after his ID was lost or stolen, someone opened up a Verizon phone account under his name and tried to collect unemployment in California. He wanted the incident documents for Verizon’s fraud department.

10/28 - A handyman found a burned book of matches in a pile of leaves at a River Drive residence. No leaves were burned, and it is unclear if the matches had been thrown onto the leaves on purpose.

10/29 - A woman on Sixth Street reported waking up and finding that her RIng (automatic surveillance) doorbell had gone off. She chased a man in a fuzzy hat with a backpack, multicolored pants and Nike shoes from her car. He appeared to have taken checkbooks and possibly an Amazon card. The woman said she would contact her banks. Police didn’t recognize the man in the security video.

10/31 - Police responded to Tulip Street where a man reportedly was in violation of a no-contact order against a resident there. Police chased him through the yard while he chugged a beer before he complied with being arrested. He was taken to Okanogan County Jail.
