News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area
Trees of Sharing 2021 is launching this week se we’ll be ready to give a hand up to families by providing a Christmas gift for their children. Since the early 1980’s, the Trees of Sharing program has been a pathway for Grand Coulee Dam area residents to be a blessing to needy children living in the area.
If you know a family with children under age 18 living in the Coulee as far north as Belvedere that could use some help, please take time to fill out Trees of Sharing slips for their children. The slips and collection boxes are located at Safeway, Coulee Family Medicine, and Harvest Foods. (Note that school-age children must be enrolled in the Grand Coulee Dam School District to be eligible.) The names will be coded, put on ornaments, and available the week before Thanksgiving so generous residents can fulfill the wishes of one or more children.
The schedule:
November 2 – November 17: Children’s names may be submitted on ‘wish’ slips and placed in decorated collection boxes at Safeway Pharmacy, Coulee Medical Center, or Harvest Foods.
November 20 – December 11: Trees decorated with ornament tags with children’s wishes will be available at North Cascades Bank, Safeway Pharmacy, Spokane Teachers Credit Union, and Harvest Foods. Please pick up a tag & fill the wish.
Monday, December 13: (Very important date!) All gifts, wrapped and with tags attached to the outside of the package, need to be returned to a ‘Tree’ location so they can be organized for delivery.
Saturday, December 18, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.: Trees of Sharing delivery of gifts
Please call to leave a message, including your phone number with Linda Black, 633-3611, to join the volunteer Trees of Sharing team. Opportunities exist to organize, shop, wrap, and deliver gifts.
