Raiders finishes third in playoff tourney

The Lady Raiders volleyball team competed in the District 6 2B tournament on Saturday, finishing third with a 9-7 win-loss record for the season.

The Lady Raiders defeated Tonasket in three sets on Nov. 2 at Manson High School to start the playoffs and qualify for the Nov. 6 tournament in Chelan. .

In Chelan, the Lady Raiders defeated Brewster 3-1.

"Our girls came out with pure fire," Head Coach Meagan Caudell said. "The one set we lost, we made some big adjustments and the power that the girls came out with was unstoppable. It was a huge win for us and I am so proud of them."

Lake Roosevelt lost 3-2 against Okanogan, ultimately placing third in the tournament, with Manson taking first and Okanogan second.

"Against Okanogan, our mental game that we had worked on all year came through," Caudell said. "We lost the first two sets and after that I told the girls that now was the time to leave absolutely everything out on the floor, play with heart, and play for each other. They did just that. I get goosebumps thinking about it. They cleaned things up, they passed well, we got lots of fast plays on the net and played with a composure that I can't even begin to explain."

"We had a great season," Caudell continued. "I am really proud of our team and how they gave it their all this season. With a few bumps in the road our team grew. The girls grew as individuals and together as a team, and that is far more rewarding than winning any championship. This season was a learning and growing season for all of us. It was the best first year I could've had with some of the hardest working girls I have ever met. Their growth as players and as people made me so incredibly proud of them it brings me to tears. My seniors especially, they gave everything they had all of the time. They are the best group of girls, and I cannot wait to see what life has in store for them next."
