Vintners and Brewers Auction raises $10k

The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce raised $10,000 last Saturday in their annual Vintners & Brewers Auction.

"This year's Vintners & Brewers Auction went well!" said Rachelle Haven, executive director for the chamber. "Thanks to our generous community, we raised $10,000! We couldn't be more grateful to our donors and community members for all their support in this event. Without them, we wouldn't be able to continue our efforts in year-round festivals. We so look forward to getting together in person next year and have some great ideas in store!"

The event combined an online auction in which bidders see their bids being bested in real time by the competition. And optionally, people could purchase a prepared meal to pick up Saturday afternoon at PK's Culinary, which included food from PK's, Voltage Coffee House, Siam Palace and Hi-Dam Bar and Grill.

Haven said the event was smaller this year in terms of the number of bidders, but that that is understandable considering the season opener home basketball games for Lake Roosevelt High School were happening at the same time.

"Overall, we are very happy with how it went!" she said. "We had a lot of great items, the meal was delish, and it was a lot of fun seeing the ugly sweaters and bid competitions!"

In the ugly sweater competition, Dany Cavadini won first place, Justin Miller won second place, and Bradley Oliver won third place, winning between $50 and $150 towards a local business of their choice.
