Police

12/15 - A man reported, from about 8 hours away from the location, that the alarms and cameras were off at a Coulee Boulevard building and he didn’t know why. He later called back and said police were not needed anymore. Police checked the building anyway and found it to be secure.

- Police went to the Coulee Playland area where a man had struck a deer with his Honda, causing damage to the front bumper, dislodging both turn signals, and killing the deer.

- An 18-year-old Spokane man knocked on the door of the police station while holding a lunchbox. He told police his father had told him to turn himself in when he did something wrong. He presented police with a Milwaukee-brand flashlight and battery charger, and told them he’d stolen it from somewhere near the dam. The man appeared to police to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The man said he wanted to be taken to jail, and also said he was high on meth. After speaking with his sister and father, police learned that he would often steal things while high on meth, and that he had stolen his father’s credit cards, which police found in the man’s wallet. He was taken to jail on theft charges.

12/17 - Police checked on a Coulee Boulevard building, where security cameras were down, and found it to be secure.

12/18 - A woman on a 911 hangup call was heard saying “you aren’t the same man I used to know.” Police responded to the Kelso Avenue address and heard people speaking through an open window, and announced their presence. A man said he didn’t want the woman to go to the car because she might “drive crazy.” The woman said she just wanted a CD from the car. The man got the CD for her, and she seemed to become less agitated.

- Police stood by on Butler Square while a man retrieved his belongings from a residence. He was later reported to have taken a phone charger from the homeowner.

12/13 - An officer went to Birch Street to assist a city crew member with turning on the street lights where the breaker panel is in the back of a property, but when he arrived, the street lights had already been turned on.

12/15 - Police responded to Stevens Avenue on a report of a vehicle prowl. A security video showed a man, standing about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, checking car doors on the street before entering an unlocked white pickup. The man was later seen talking to a Grand Coulee officer, which is when the pickup owner realized his vehicle had been rifled through. Nothing had been reported as stolen at the time the police report was written. The man was later arrested for theft by Grand Coulee police and taken to jail.

12/15 - Police responded to Fir Street where dog barking was reported. A small dog would bark every so often, the officer noted in his report. The owners said the dogs are inside most of the time, and also that they were working on getting into compliance with the number of dogs allowed, which is two.

12/17 - Police responded to Central Drive where an alarm was heard. A woman had placed a fire alarm outside because it was annoying her, but there was no fire.
