Lady Raiders named softball state 2B team of the month

The Lake Roosevelt Lady Raider fastpitch softball team has won the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Team of the Month award for April.

"The Lake Roosevelt Fastpitch team has had an amazing year," the WIAA website reads. "They started slow, but have come alive in late-April. In two days, they faced the #1 1B undefeated team in Almira Coulee Hartline, and beat them 14-4 in the first game, and 4-1 in the second game. A day later, they faced the giants of Okanogan. Okanogan is ranked #1 in the state and has been undefeated all season. The Lady Raiders beat them in 7 innings 10-0."

"This team has done incredible things this year," Head Coach Jaci Gross said. "I am so proud of them and they deserve recognition. I can't help but note that having Mike Steffens on the coaching staff has put us on another level."

The Lady Raiders finished their regular season with a 9-1 win-loss record in the Central Washington 2B league, 18-2 overall.
