Electric City looks to expand beyond Osborn Bay

Water study to be done

Electric City could expand beyond Osborn Bay, but first they need to have a water system there.

Electric City is applying for a Washington State Department of Commerce grant from the Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) to help pay for a water feasibility study to be done for an area just south of Osborn Bay.

The feasibility study will tell the city if they could drill a new well there, which would allow for future development of residences in that area, Mayor Diane Kohout said.

She said contractors have approached the city about developing city property in that area.

The study will cost $14,500. The grant, if approved, would pay for 80%, or $11,600 of that, with the city covering the other 20% or $2,900.

Kohout will be making a presentation to CERB on July 21 when that board will decide if Electric City will receive the grant.

City Clerk Peggy Nevsimal wasnt sure of the acreage that could be developed estimated it to be in the hundreds.
