Lake Roosevelt Jr/Sr High School has produced quite the list of student athletes this year, with 20 students being named to “All-League” teams for the Central Washington 2B league, and two LR coaches were named “coach of the year” in their respective sports.
Athletic Director Tim Rasmussen announced “an outstanding list of student-athletes and coaches that have represented LR and our community this season. … Congratulations to all and good luck this next week for all that qualify for the spring sports state tournaments.”
Jaci Gross, whose fast-pitch softball team begins playing in the state tournament in Yakima Friday afternoon, was named coach of the year. Her Lady Raiders upset league-leading Okanogan to win the District 6 Championship last week.
And LR’s head tennis coach, Billy Monroe, was named coach of the year in that sport.
In softball, Emma Marchand was named player of the year. Presley Steffens, Sawyer Steffens, and Aaliyah Marchand were selected for First Team All-League; Halle Albert was named to Second Team All-League; and Desiree George received an honorable mention.
In baseball, Brit Egbert and Tyson Nicholson were named to First Team All-League, while Tanner Kiser and Ivan Alejandre received honorable mentions.
In golf, Terek Bush was named to First Team All-League; Cameron Wendt and Aehsley Piturachsatit were named to Second Team All-League; and Colton Jackson received an honorable mention.
In tennis, Kaylee Landeros, Riley Ayling, and Amy Dorman were selected for Second Team All-League; Raeanna Joe, Terai Shanklin-Bob, and Reese Hansen received honorable mentions.
And in track and field, Carly Neddo received an honorable mention for her competition in the javelin event.
