The Lake Roosevelt track and field team competed in the District 6 tournament on May 19 in Brewster, where Carly Neddo qualified to compete at state later this week in the shot put and javelin.
Athletes needed to place in the top three of their event to qualify for the 1B, 2B, 1A state championships to be held May 26-28 at Eastern Washington University.
“Carly threw a [personal record] shot of 31 feet, three inches, securing the second-place spot and a trip to state,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said. “She also placed third in the javelin qualifying in that event as well.”
“The Raiders placed fourth as a team out of eight schools,” Adkins said. “I was proud of the girls. They competed so hard and gave it their all until the end.”
Raeley Portch ran a PR time of 14.26 seconds in the 100-meter dash, Adkins said, adding that she anticipates more from her in the future. “Her times keep getting faster and faster. Her district marks will seed her nicely into next season. She narrowly missed a trip to state, placing just out of the qualifying top three in the 300 hurdles.”
