Very proud of LR alumnus

Letter from our readers

Andy Clark is an LR alumnus and was a very talented Raider and UW Husky track athlete. At LR he was coached by Randy Spotts, who was the best high school distance coach around. Randy was very organized, methodical, expected the best from his athletes and coached several state champions and medalists. Coach Spotts always kept things fun with his bizarre sense of humor. Even when his runners were tops in the state he would yell at them to run “Faster, faster, faster.” Then when their events were over he’d tell the coaches jokingly, “Boy, could I use a cigarette right now.”

Andy, one of Randy’s finest, has been the head Track & Field coach at Wilbur-Creston for a long time. Recently, at the WIAA Track & Field State Championships, Andy and his assistant had an army of athletes competing in almost every event. Like his mentor, all of Andy’s athletes are well behaved, well coached, winning medals and having fun at the highest level of high school competition. My wife and I really enjoyed watching all the athletes giving maximum efforts. We’re very proud knowing that Andy was one of our former student-athletes. He’s following in his mentor Randy’s footsteps by modeling high expectations and instilling this and other significant qualities in his student-athletes.

Keep up the tremendous work. Go Raiders!

John and Lori Adkins
