Thanks for a great legion sale season

After two years without the ability to open our doors, we are again at the end of our sale season as we come to the community to thank everyone for a fantastic TEN week run at the VET Center. Our American Legion Post appreciates everybody who has stopped by and shopped with us during our sale. Although it seemed like a very long stretch for those of us who worked every week to gather and prepare all the treasures that we had for sale, the time flew by as we greeted many of the same people on a weekly basis. With this year shortened by three weeks, with the community’s help, we still surpassed our goal set at the beginning of the sale. As of now, we ask that you refrain from any more drop offs. This year GOODWILL has told us that they will not pick-up the remaining items. Having said that, we will be opening our doors one more week, with a few exceptions, EVERYTHING IS FREE. Let me say it again, EVERYTHING

IS FREE, with the exception of a few items. Please bring your own containers, as we have no boxes to spare. A very special thanks goes out to all the community members who donated many very serviceable items which we offered for sale. Without those ongoing donations, we couldn’t continue the sale.

I need to specifically thank all the volunteers who have given their time freely and helped keep the tables straightened up and full of the items that were there for the picking. Without the volunteers we could not remain open.

Lastly, I want to thank all the members who tirelessly showed up week after week to help us accomplish our goals. That goal is to continue to help those Vets who are in need. We also are continuing to sponsor our scholarship fund, which allowed us to award two scholarships to graduating seniors from local area schools.

For those of you who consider donating, we accept just about any Serviceable Item for the sale. Our season begins the first of May and runs through the first week of August. We require a phone call to either of our numbers so that we can accept all donations as they arrive. That way we can make sure any of your donated treasures aren’t damaged by the weather. Those numbers are 509-771-5796 for Tom or Jim and 509-846-3762 for John.

Don’t forget the hall is available for all your grand occasions. Join us for our Veterans Day breakfast in November where all the proceeds go toward our Scholarship fund for graduating seniors in the area. Don’t forget the Memorial Day breakfast in May 2023. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will be back next year.
