Coulee Dam

Police

8/10 - Police went to River Drive where a Pontiac Grand Prix had apparently hit a tree and light pole, and the pole had fallen onto the car. The driver was upset but said she didn’t require medical attention. She showed signs of alcohol intoxication, and after performing sobriety tests, police concluded that she was intoxicated and arrested her for driving under the influence. She was taken to Okanogan County Jail and the vehicle was towed.

8/13 - Police confiscated a dog that was running at large on Spruce Street. The owners have been cited many times for letting it run loose, and haven’t done anything to fix a hole in a fence. The dog was taken to Omak and given to a no-kill shelter called N.O. Paws Left Behind.

8/14 - A Fir Street man complained that a loose dog was trying to mount his dog, which was in heat. Police were unable to find the loose dog.

- Police closed an open basement door on Lincoln Avenue where boy scouts sometimes meet. No one was at the building.

8/15 - A truck owned by tribal police was struck in a hit-and-run incident while parked on River Drive. Coulee Dam police are attempting to find any helpful security footage to find who caused the damage.

8/18 - Police responded to Douglas Avenue for a situation in which a woman was asked to leave after throwing a microwave inside a residence, then refused to leave. Police gave her a ride to the casino and explained that she wasn’t allowed to return to that residence.

8/20 - Police explained to a man on Douglas Avenue how to evict someone from his home. He said that another man didn’t live there but only stayed there sometimes. Police determined that, because the other man has clothes there and frequently stays, he has residency there.

Grand Coulee

Police

8/10 - Police told a woman from Pennsylvania that her sister, who lives in Grand Coulee, was still on her way back from a trip to Montana. The woman was concerned about not hearing from her sister.

8/18 - A man’s car rolled away from its parked position near Dill Avenue and King Street onto Spokane Way where it rolled into a fence, causing extensive damage. Police helped the man exchange information with the owner of the fence. The car was towed.

8/20 - Police were unable to locate a cougar reportedly seen in the Williams Avenue area.

8/21 - Police retrieved a baggy of drugs found in the Four Corners gas station restroom after a woman had been there for an estimated two hours. Police took the baggie to be destroyed.

- Police responded to Sunbanks Lake Resort where people who had been loud agreed to go to bed for the night.

8/22 - Police responded to an alarm at a Bowen Street residence. Police rang a doorbell multiple times with no response, and saw no one there.

- Police spoke to a man at the hospital who had been in a fight with his tenant at a Yakima Street address over a rent dispute. The landlord is working on evicting the tenant, and wants a restraining order to be put in place. Police were unable to contact the other man involved in the fight, or a witness, which they needed to close the case.

- A Grand Coulee man reported that his blue Dodge truck was stolen by a man who had stayed the night and was told the night before he wasn’t allowed to use the truck to go buy the opioid fentanyl.

- A suspicious man was reported prowling around boats at Sunbanks Lake Resort, circling around, then leaving in a black Cadillac toward the campground. Police spoke to two women about how they saw the man and shined flashlights toward him, and he left. Police were unable to find the Cadillac described. Nothing appeared missing and police noted that it’s possible the man was getting something from a boat belonging to his own party.
