School enrollments noted

Some 820 students have enrolled in local schools for the 2022-23 school year, including Lake Roosevelt Schools and Nespelem Elementary School.

There are 689 students at Lake Roosevelt Schools.

The junior/senior high side of the school has 352 students enrolled, according to a report submitted by Principal Natalie Kontos included in the Grand Coulee Dam School School District’s Aug. 22 board meeting packet.

Those 352 students include 47 in seventh grade; 55 in eighth; 66 freshmen; 74 sophomores; 65 juniors; and 45 seniors.

Those numbers do not include students enrolled in the Alternative Learning Environment program.

The elementary side has 337 students, according to a similar report submitted by Principal Lisa Lakin, including 40 kindergartners; 58 in first grade; 49 in second; 38 in third; 58 in fourth; 45 in fifth; and 49 in sixth. 

Nespelem Elementary has 131 students attending, including five in preschool and three in a transition room, which was started last year to temporarily take care of 4-year-olds not quite old enough to start preschool.

Nespelem has 11 students in kindergarten; 19 in first grade, 15 in second; 14 in third; 16 in fourth; 13 each in fifth and sixth grades; 10 in seventh, and 12 in eighth grade, the school reported.
