Grand Coulee Police
9/9 - A fight occurred at the golf course involving a woman who was picking up golf balls with her dogs while a couple was golfing. The dogs allegedly approached the couple, and an argument and fight ensued. The woman said that she was threatened and assaulted, but the couple said the woman assaulted them. Police collected photographs of injuries. Both parties wish to press charges, and the case is ongoing.
9/10 - A wallet with $2 and three IDs from a family in Kent was found on Spokane Way and will be at the police station.
9/12 - A woman was banned from a bar on Main Street after being fired from working there.
9/13 - Police went to Lake Roosevelt High School because of an alleged assault the previous day on a school bus while it was in Grand Coulee. Police viewed video of the incident that showed a boy walk from the back of the bus to another boy seated a few rows up, hit him, and then drag him from his seat to the back of the bus. Police documented the incident but said it is a school issue unless the victim’s parents choose to press charges. The assailant was suspended from school and will be suspended from the bus for two weeks from the time he returns.
- A man who lives along SR-174 reported his truck stolen by a woman he has an on-again, off-again relationship with. She has taken the truck without permission in the past, and the man wished to press charges this time. The woman faces the charge of taking a motor vehicle without permission in the second degree.
- A man was told that he wasn’t allowed in an area near the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation “230 Yard Spreader,” and a spot known as Bunny Hill. The man said he wasn’t aware he was in a restricted area, and was trying to take a photo of the dam. He walked away after speaking with police.
9/14 - A man was banned from the hospital following an incident in which he refused to wear a mask inside the building. Police told him a private business can ask him to wear a mask if the owners choose to. A doctor agreed to look at his injured thumb outside the building, but the man was aggressive towards staff and so was banned from the hospital.
9/15 - A caller reported hearing someone get bit by a dog. Police located a woman who had been walking down a street in Electric City when a pit bull “nipped” at her, biting her arm. She said she was fine and thanked the officer for responding.
Coulee Dam Police
9/7 - Three students admitted to school staff that they’d smoked marijuana. An officer didn’t press them on details, but noted they all had bloodshot eyes and that two said that they were hungry. One student expressed wanting cereal with chocolate milk. The principal gave the officer a pink vape pen smoking device. The children’s parents were on their way to pick them up. They could possibly face the charge of being minors in possession of marijuana.
9/10 - Kids were said to be out late at a park near Holly Street. The officer didn’t respond because there are no curfew laws in place.
- Police went to apartments on River Drive where two vehicles were parked, blocking an entrance/exit of the parking lot. The owners of the vehicles were at a loud party. The party came out, and the intoxicated owners weren’t allowed to move their vehicles. A sober, pregnant woman was allowed to move the vehicles, but, being unused to driving a truck, backed the truck into the other vehicle, a Chevy Cruze. The officer helped the owners exchange information. The woman wasn’t charged with anything.
- A woman reported her children’s bikes stolen from her Central Drive home, and that two of the three bikes had been found in Elmer City. Those two bikes were recovered, but the other one is still lost. She provided police with images of the bikes, and security footage showing the theft.
9/13 - Police went to a Cedar Street resident who allegedly has 10 or more cats. Police explained the city code to the man, which allows up to two cats, and up to four pet’s total. The man said he’d work on finding a way to get rid of some cats.
9/14 - A Holly Street man thought his dog had been stolen from his home, but it was later found walking loose near the grocery store.
9/16 - A man on Central Drive called his out-of-town neighbor when he saw an unknown vehicle at his house and someone going inside. It turned out to be the man’s friend, who was allowed to be there.
