Volleyball loses one, wins one

The Lady Raiders lost to Okanogan in volleyball but beat Bridgeport this past week and currently has a 2-1 win-loss record.

LR lost 3-0 in Okanogan Sept. 13.

"Our game against Okanogan was really good," Head Coach Meagan Caudell said. "We didn't win, but we learned a lot about where our weaknesses were, and the girls really stepped up with a lot of changes that were made. Nevaeh English was dominant all throughout the game, along with Aaliyah Marchand."

Cylia St. Pierre entered the contest in the third set. "For coming in cold off the bench, she performed so, so well," Caudell said. "I was so proud of her. She was passing well, hitting well, and talking."

Caudell said it was a "good competitive match against Okanogan" and noted that "Zalissa Finley was strong for our blocks, and Shyanne Marchand had a few set assists, as well."

LR then won at home in Coulee Dam 3-0 against Bridgeport.

"Our girls did outstanding!" Caudell said. "Everyone got to play so that is always fun to be able to get girls that play both JV and varsity in a varsity match. Aaliyah had eight serves in a  row. Riley Ayling had a lot as well. The girls did awesome and really worked as a team in our first game at home. I was extremely proud of them."

They were scheduled to play in Tonasket last night, results of which will be in next week's newspaper.

A home match against Manson is scheduled for this Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the ladies are scheduled to compete in the Quincy Invitational Volleyball Tournament with teams from Quincy, Reardan, Omak, Warden, and Waterville.

That tournament is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

On Sept. 27, LR is scheduled to host Brewster at 6:30 p.m.
