Volleyball wins one loses one

Lady Raiders beat Liberty Bell but lost to Okanogan in volleyball last week.

The Lady Raiders won 3-0 in Liberty Bell on Oct. 4.

"Playing against Liberty Bell was a lot of fun," Head Coach Meagan Caudell said. "The fans were amazing and it was an overall good game for everyone. One thing that we, as a team, are working on was serve receive, and that game felt like our hard work was paying off. We also had some good plays offensively. Zalissa [Finley] and Carly [Neddo] both did great at the net and Jenna Cleveland had four huge kills to lead us to victory!"

Then on Oct. 6, at home in Coulee Dam with Okanogan, the Lady Raiders lost 3-0.

"I was really proud of our girls after the Okanogan game," Caudell said. "We got beat, but we never gave up. Zalissa Finley had nine kills in one set during the game against Okanogan. She did outstanding."

Caudell noted that setter Amy Dorman had "really stepped up" in the absence of Shyanne Marchand for the game. "She set really well and was able to mix it up a bit."

The coach also noted the effectiveness of LR's blockers. "That was one thing we knew coming into this game was that we needed to block and dig up any balls that were coming to us."

"All of the girls did an awesome job and it was fun to have such an amazing student section cheering our girls on," she said.

LR was scheduled to play in Bridgeport Oct. 11, results of which will be reported next week.

A home game is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13 with Tonasket, with the varsity team scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Raiders are then scheduled to play on the road against Manson, again at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
