Grand Coulee

Police

1/31 - Police responded to a report of an agitated patient, brought into the hospital by tribal police, who was threatening to assault staff. Police learned a female had threatened to strangle a member of the security staff, although the man said he didn’t think she was capable of doing so. Police spoke to the girl who said she wouldn’t cause any more problems.

2/1 - A woman asked police to check on the wellbeing of her father. Police eventually found him at the casino and he said he was doing fine.

- Police pulled over a car near the Grand Coulee Dam they knew to belong to a driver with a suspended license. She was cited for that and warned about drug paraphernalia in the car. She was also wanted on multiple misdemeanor arrest warrants but the Grant County Jail isn’t accepting prisoners on misdemeanor warrants because of booking restrictions. The passenger took control of the car.

- A man on Dill Avenue said a red pickup truck with a broken taillight seemed to swerve into his trash can on purpose before taking off at a high rate of speed towards Four Corners. He didn’t know who might have been driving. Police were unable to find the truck. His trash can was okay. A short time later, a woman on Ronald Drive also reported a red truck hitting her trash can. The lid was broken off of the trash can. Another caller said the truck took off towards Douglas County. Coulee Dam police also looked for the truck, and noted similar vandalism in Coulee Dam.

2/2 - A woman was pulled over on Wenatchee Avenue and was cited for driving a car without insurance and having a registration that expired in 2017. She said she had just purchased the vehicle.

- Police looked into a report of a physical disturbance on Dill Avenue. A woman explained that people had yelled at dogs to stop the fighting, but there had been no fight between humans. Police saw a dog with blood on it. The woman said the dogs would be attended to.

2/3 - A woman reported that her RV on Dill Avenue had been pried open. It appeared nothing was taken, but she was upset it had been broken into multiple times. She said she doesn’t have any “weed” inside it that anyone would want. She requested extra police patrols in the area.

- A man on Main Street said he was tired of people coming in and out of a neighbor’s residence and that he thought it was because of drug activity. He told a man in his 20s in a jean jacket to walk somewhere else besides his yard. He said the man later came to his door and took a swing at him. Police spoke to neighbors but didn’t find anyone matching the description.

2/4 - Police told a woman on Hill Avenue how to get a restraining order. She had complained about an ex-boyfriend who was recently released from prison sending unwanted text and Facebook messages. At a later time, police talked to the ex and advised him she wanted a restraining order and that it would be best for him to quit contacting her, which he said he would do.

- Police were requested to assist an ambulance crew with a combative patient on Park Avenue in Electric City. The city switched from using Grand Coulee Police to Coulee Dam Police for police services at the beginning of this year, but Coulee Dam didn’t have any officers on duty or on call, so the Grand Coulee officer eventually decided he would respond to help with the combative patient, even though his department no longer provides service to Electric City.

2/5 - Someone in Yuma, Arizona who owns storage units locally told police he locked out people who hadn’t paid their storage rent. He requested police perform extra patrols to make sure the locks aren’t tampered with.

2/2 - There was no beat-up blue Chevy pickup near Sunny Drive and Sandy Lane when police went to check on one reportedly abandoned there.
