Raiders track and fielders compete in two meets

Raider track and field athletes have competed in two meets since the last week of March.

At Ephrata’s big Ray Cross Invitational March 25, Raiders met athletes from 30 schools ranging in size from 1B to 4A.

“Our athletes competed well in our first outing, setting themselves up nicely within the District 6 rankings,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said.

Carly Neddo placed 6th in the Javelin putting the LRHS girls’ team on the scoreboard. Her throw nearly matched her personal best from last year.

Lake Roosevelt’s distance team of Logan Marconi, Caden Portch and John Cooley “ran really well as a highlight of the meet for LRHS,” Adkins said.

The Raiders “competed hard” at league meet at Bridgeport, March 30, Adkins said. “It was great to see the depth of our teams with double and even triple placing in events.”

For the boys’ team, the distance/jumping combo of Logan Marconi and Caden Portch led the team to a fourth-place team finish. The throwing team gave strong back up with a triple place in the javelin event by Zach Towner, John Cooley and William George.

On the girls’ side, Raeley Portch led the sprinters, placing in all of her events, including winning the 300-meter hurdles. Madelynn Carmen provided depth in events, adding team points in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, long jump and discus.

Carly Neddo led the Raider girls’ team to a fifth-place finish by winning the javelin event and placing second in the shot and discus.

After spring break, the Raiders will begin their two-meets-a-week series by going to Davenport on April 11 and Kittitas on April 14.
