Lake Roosevelt’s track and field athelets traveled to Davenport and Kittitas last week, placing well in both events.
Davenport’s April 11 event was fast and fun, coach Lori Adkins said, where points were only given to first, second and third place finishes. “It was a great way to begin our two-meets-a-week section of the season.”
Carly Neddo took second place in the shot put and in the javelin with her season’s best throw.
Raeley Portch placed third in the 300-meter hurdles.
Logan Marconi took three third places: in the long jump, the 800-meter race and in the 1600.
Three other LR athletes gained personal bests: Dillan Yazzie in the 200; John Cooley in the 110 hurdles; and Arianna Waters in the shot put.
At Kittitas, among athletes from 15 other schools Friday, “the Raiders shined,” Adkins said. “Most came home with a medal around their neck, a place, or Personal Best result.”
The 4x4 relay team of Dillan Yazzie, John Cooley, Caden Portch and Logan Marconi placed third.
Marconi doubled by placing second in the 800 and 1600, pushing his competitor to run his best race of the season.
Neddo came up Javelin Champion and also placed third in discus and fourth in shot.
Madelynn Carmen ran an exceptional 200,” Adkins said, placing seventh.
Arianna Waters placed seventh in discus.
And Raeley Portch was the 300 Hurdles Champion and also placed eighth in the javelin.
