Grand Coulee Police
7/2 - Several vehicles were reportedly being driven erratically by people who had been drinking at the Eden Harbor marina area. Police searched the area and adjacent areas for the vehicles but didn’t find them.
- A woman was locked inside of her Continental Heights apartment due to a malfunctioning deadbolt. Police contacted the Grant County Housing Authority, the building owner, who said they would come fix it.
7/3 - An unoccupied Mercedes was left at a Grand Coulee Avenue gas station. Police checked to see if it was stolen but it was not. The gas station would have to pay for a tow if they wanted it removed.
- Police checked on a truck that had been parked in front of a residence. The occupants reportedly parked, got into a white car, and drove off. The truck was said to be “smoking.” Police found that the truck was in good standing, and the engine was warm but not on fire. The resident was told of the findings.
- A woman forgot to tell her grandson and his friends that she had set the alarm at a Pendell Road residence. It was accidentally set off, prompting a police response.
7/3 - A cell phone was found and taken to the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center where security staff were able to find the rightful owner.
7/4 - Police told people lighting fireworks on Partello Parkway about the city ordinance against fireworks.
- Security footage showed a red minivan driving past a residence and a firecracker going off in the street in front of a Roosevelt Drive home. Police considered the incident to be a breach of peace as well as against the fireworks ordinance in town. Police spoke to the owner of the minivan who said she had been driving it but her son hadn’t, and no fireworks had been set off by her or her son.
7/5 - Police helped a woman capture a live rattlesnake at her Boulder Avenue home using a bucket. The snake was let go in a safe location “to live the rest of its life,” according to the police report.
- A suspicious man was reportedly carrying something in a shirt that looked like it could be a firearm. Police approached the man who became defensive. Police explained that since he is a felon, he cannot possess firearms. Eventually the man showed police what turned out to be a vehicle jack, which was not illegal. Police left the man alone.
7/6 - A loud explosion or gunshot was heard at about 1:30 a.m. on Roosevelt Drive.
- Police investigated a possible burglary in progress at the Delano Transfer Station only to find an employee in the main building. Everything was OK.
7/8 - Police spoke to a teenage boy on Roosevelt Drive who admitted to setting off a firecracker on the property of a neighbor. The boy agreed to clean up the mess and was warned that in the future he would be ticketed for lighting fireworks.
- A vehicle was pulled over on Grand Coulee Avenue and Jones Street for having an expired registration. The driver was wanted in Okanogan County on an arrest warrant for theft. He was cited for driving with a suspended license, for the expired registration, not for having insurance, then taken to jail in Okanogan.
7/9 - Police arrested a man walking on SR-174 near the hospital because he was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Okanogan County for driving under the influence. He was taken to the jail there.
Coulee Dam Police
7/2 - Police could not hear any loud music in the area of the Skydeck Motel in Electric City following a noise complaint.
- A police report notes various instances of fireworks being lit off in Coulee Dam and Electric City. No citations were given but people were warned.
7/3 - A man on an electric scooter was reported as arguing with a group at a campsite at Sunbanks Lake Resort because of their race.
- Campers at Osborn Bay showed police a stray dog. The officer knew whose dog it was and returned it to its owner.
7/4 - Police told campers at Sunbanks Lake Resort to be quiet as they were being loud past the “quiet hour.”
- Police told campers at Coulee Playland to turn their music off. The intoxicated campers said they weren’t going to drive anywhere.
- An iPhone with a broken screen was found near Okanogan and Lincoln Avenues in Coulee Dam.
- While heading north on SR-155 on the Columbia River bridge in Coulee Dam, a vehicle knocked off the mirror of an Ford F-150 pickup headed in the opposite direction. There are no details on the other vehicle and the collision is considered a hit and run.
- An officer checked on a report of fireworks being set off on Roosevelt Drive in Grand Coulee. Grand Coulee officers were busy with other duties at the time. No fireworks were seen by a Coulee Dam officer being lit off at the time that he checked.
7/7 - While walking through the casino, an officer noticed a man wanted on a felony arrest warrant out of Okanogan County. He was arrested and taken to the county jail without incident.
7/9 - A woman was seen taking clothes from Harvest Foods and an employee attempting to grab the clothes as she drove off. A couple witnesses followed her to a Conoco gas station in Grand Coulee and explained what they had seen. The woman told police she was attempting to return the clothes but didn’t have a receipt. The police report said there would be “more to follow,” on the case.
