The Grand Coulee Dam School District Board passed it’s budget Monday night after a public hearing on the matter. No one showed up to question the $9.5 million budget.
The Colville tribes has announced plans to construct a casino on property purchased four years ago along SR97 South of the Rodeo Trail Road near Omak. Tribal officials had announced that the cost will be a $24 million project for the 58 square foot facility.
The building that had housed the headquarters of the Colville tribes for decades burned down early Monday night leaving tribal leaders to figure out how to spread out even more of their government operations across the agency campus. The fire was reported about 1:15am with officers arriving within 5 minutes, but 5 minutes later, the building was fully engulfed in flames

More than 200 junior Cowboys and Cowgirls participated in the annual Ridge Riders Junior Rodeo last weekend. Among the local winners were Jesse Palmer, Kelly McClure and Jackie Jackson, all of Nespelem.

A large group of young people worked out at Spring Canyon last week in order to qualify as aides to the Coulee Swim Program. Those that will be instructors include Carla Scallen, Linda Snyder and Dorothy Boyd.

The contractor is proceeding with work on the parking lot and ramp at Steamboat Rock State Park according to representatives of the local Chamber of Commerce.
About 245 children and adults have been enrolled in the swimming lessons being held the last couple of weeks at north Marina

Over 300 persons attended the special meeting called by the Coulee Dam Advisory Council last Wednesday at the community building.Tthe meeting was called to discuss the recent town survey of Coulee Dam relative to the sale of the town site to the citizens.
