8/6 - Police warned a Center Street dog owner about keeping his dogs in his yard after multiple incidents of it getting into a neighbor’s yard, scaring a resident there.
- Police assisted Douglas County Sheriff’s Office by informing residents along SR-174 up to mile post 18 about an emergency evacuation notice due to a nearby fire.
8/7 - A Banks Avenue woman noticed a pistol missing after moving her brother out of her residence. A friend of the brother had been holding onto the pistol in a gun safe, along with other firearms and told her that he would look for the pistol. Police said to inform them if the pistol was found by her or the friend. The pistol was reported as stolen.
8/8 - A Grand Coulee officer assisted tribal police in arresting a woman at the casino in Coulee Dam who had already been banned from there. She was allowed to finish a game and cash out her tickets prior to arrest. Her ban was extended for another year.
- A woman on Weil Place said a man shot her in a leg with a BB gun after firing a few shots and that following an argument he’d threatened to kill her. The man was driving away when police arrived, and they were able to stop him. He denied shooting at the woman and said he had been firing at a clothesline on the property, which police observed had residences behind it. Police didn’t see a BB-type wound on the woman’s leg but found probable cause to arrest the man for discharging the firearm in the city and for driving under the influence. He was taken to jail.
8/9 - While traveling back from Ephrata from a jail transport, an officer assisted Soap Lake Police looking for a vehicle that four people had gotten into after possibly burglarizing a storage unit. Police were unable to locate that vehicle at that time.
- A woman on Weil Place believes a relative and others may have stolen items from her that she noticed missing, including an old $4,000 engagement ring. She didn’t wish to fill out a statement. Police thought they were getting mixed messages from her.
- An officer assisted Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office by responding to a dog bite incident at Spring Canyon. A man had been bitten on the arm and leg by a dog before it returned to its camp. The campers explained they mistakenly thought the dog, Dasher, was on its leash when it bit the man, and that it hadn’t done that kind of thing before. They were packing up to leave the campground when they spoke to police. The dog appeared calm and friendly to the officer, who then left the area.
- Police went to Fortuyn Road where a man being kicked out of a meeting was causing a disturbance. Police saw him throw a green bowl at a window and ride across a lawn on a bicycle towards James Saunders Way, where he disobeyed police commands. He was combative towards an officer who was able to gain control of him and apply wrist restraints. The man was charged with disorderly conduct, although he was released due to the jail not accepting bookings.
- Police went to Hill Avenue where two men had been fighting outside apartments. One of the men had left in his vehicle. Police talked to another man working on his own vehicle, who said the other man had borrowed his cell phone days earlier and punched him in the cheek after he demanded it back. Police observed a red mark on the man’s cheek. He didn’t wish to press charges, but the other man could still face an assault charge.
8/9 - Police investigated a possible no-contact order violation on Center Street but were told by the protected party that the man she is protected against had neither been there nor tried to contact her in any way.
8/10 - Police responded to a suspicious person report and found a female sitting at the intersection of A Street and SR-174 at 1:30 a.m. She told police she was out because she doesn’t get to walk around enough. She didn’t provide many more details. She declined to say where she lived and walked off.
- A man staying on Section Place admitted to police that he stole a bluetooth speaker from someone in the lobby of the hospital, which was caught on security footage. He retrieved the speaker and gave it to the officer, who gave it to the rightful owner, who didn’t wish to press charges.
8/11 - Police spoke to a man outside of Grand Coulee’s city hall who had a cut on his leg after his sister’s boyfriend broke a window on his car following an argument at another location. He said the small cut resulted from a broken window after the boyfriend punched it while the man was driving away during the argument. No charges were filed.
- Police were told about a man wanted on multiple felony warrants being near Safeway, but Grant County Jail refused to book the man on the warrants, so nothing was done.
8/12 - A woman on Main Street said she was fine and she didn’t want to talk to someone who had requested police check on her welfare.
- A Grand Coulee officer assisted a Coulee Dam officer who had stopped a vehicle with mismatched plates, often indicative of a stolen vehicle. One of the passengers was in violation of a no-contact order, arrested and taken to jail. The officer removed the front plate, which as the wrong one for the vehicle.
8/13 - Police spoke to two women hanging out outside the hospital after being discharged, with one having refused treatment for an overdose. Hospital staff didn’t want them loitering there. The women asked for a ride to Electric City. Police told them that the police department wasn’t a taxi service and that they had feet on which to walk.
