New Grand Coulee librarian hired

NCW Libraries has hired a new branch librarian in Grand Coulee.

Sage Hachey began her new job in August, replacing Joanne Percy.

Hachey grew up in Eastern Washington and developed an early love of reading and libraries.

"I have so many early library memories just because that's where I always was," she said. "I read anything I could get my hands on just as soon as I could read. My school librarian had a huge impact on me growing up. She showed me how much of a difference librarians make."

Hachey  attended Spokane Falls Community College's Sign Language Interpreter program, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from Eastern Washington University. She will complete her Master of Library Information Science from Pennsylvania Western University Clarion in December.

Hachey most recently worked at the Spokane Community College Library. She also previously worked as the lead archivist for a private collection.

She moved to Grand Coulee with her husband, their child and a cat. Her hobbies include knitting, hiking and spin classes.

"The thing I'm looking forward to most in my new job is learning about the community and how I can make a difference as a librarian," she said. "Everyone has been so welcoming, and a lot of patrons have brought up ideas for library programming they'd like to see. It's great that so many community members really love the library."

NCW Libraries invites you to visit the Grand Coulee Library and welcome Hachey to the community.
