Grand Coulee Police
9/24 - A woman’s car, left running outside of her Hill Avenue apartment, was reported stolen. Security footage showed a truck without license plates pull up next to the vehicle. Someone exited the truck, then took the car. It was later learned that the vehicle had been repossessed. The police report notes that the repo service should have contacted police prior to repossessing the car. The owner told police that the payments should have been taken care of and that she hadn’t received any notices in the mail to the contrary.
- A Grand Coulee officer and a Coulee Dam officer both looked for a couple after a woman reported her husband taking her car keys. The police checked two separate gas stations, spoke with people who hadn’t seen any dispute take place, and were unable to contact the woman who had originally reported the keys being taken. They concluded that a dispute about keys did take place but no violence had been reported in relation to the incident.
9/25 - A Grand Coulee officer assisted a Coulee Dam officer by responding to a report of a suspicious person on Jackson Avenue who had parked near a vacant house. The house was found to be secure and the suspicious person turned out to just be a guy who had parked nearby.
9/26 - A storage unit was found open with the lock on the ground. The items inside didn’t appear to have been disturbed. The person who owns the storage units used his own lock to secure the unit as he didn’t have contact information for the renter.
- Police spoke to a man sleeping in his vehicle parked at the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center after hours. The man was cooperative with police who told him of alternate places to go to sleep.
9/27 - Police spoke to a suspicious customer at a store on Midway Avenue who had said her vehicle was broken down and wandered around the store for about half an hour. She said she was just shopping, paid for a couple items, and left in a different vehicle than the one said to have been broken down.
9/28 - A man who had been requesting free food from a Midway Avenue restaurant was told he was banned from the establishment after the owner asked police to do so.
- Police collected security footage of a man walking on Wenatchee Avenue near a Yakima Avenue residence in violation of a no-contact order stating he is not to go within 1,000 feet of that location. The next day, police talked to the man, who was at a place about 300 feet away. He was arrested and taken to jail for the violation.
9/29 - Police looked inside a Spokane Boulevard garage where a door had been left open and someone thought they had seen a person inside. Police looked at any possible hiding places but didn’t see anyone. Police then viewed security footage that didn’t show anyone there who wasn’t supposed to be there. They concluded that the door had simply been left open.
10/1 - Police responded to a report of animal cruelty of a dog on Burdin Boulevard. The dog is often tethered to a power pole at a residence there. The dog wasn’t there at the time, but police were told it didn’t seem to suffer from dehydration nor improper nutrition but were told that the owners should not have a dog.
- A Spokane Way resident was concerned that a car that had been following him parked near his residence. He was relieved to learn it was a mother and child. The mother had pulled over because her car had overheated.

9/25 - An Electric City woman told police about an organization requesting money from her step mother over Facebook. She wanted police to take note of the messages.
9/27 - A wheel and tire were reported as being in the roadway of Columbia Avenue creating a possible traffic hazard but police didn’t see anything in the road when they responded.
- Police stood by as an Adult Protective Services worker interviewed someone on Coulee Boulevard suspected of being involved in a financial exploitation case. Police didn’t take part in the interview, only stood by for the safety of the worker.
9/28 - A man’s shed on Grand Avenue was broken into with the door removed and items scattered. Nothing appeared to have been taken but the man told police he worried someone could come back for other items. Police patrolled the area for suspicious people.
- Police responded to an alarm going off at the credit union in Coulee Dam and walked around the building, finding it secure. Police later learned it was a false alarm.
9/30 - An Electric City resident let police know that a family member decided to take a stray dog as a pet. The dog had been loose for a while, he explained.
10/1 - A Sunset Drive resident reported that his car had been prowled. He wasn’t sure if the vehicle was locked. Someone had given the man his wallet after finding it a distance from his home, but $300 was missing. Items inside the car had been rifled through, but only the money was missing.
- Neighbors on Jackson Avenue had a dispute over a fence and putting things on the fence, but seemed to come to an understanding that they just needed to communicate more.
