Two wins put Lady Raiders into postseason

The Raider volleyball team scored two wins this week to put them third in the Central Washington 2B League with a 9-5 win-loss record.

The Lake Roosevelt girls put away the Brewster Bears Oct. 19 in three sets on LR's home court on senior night, a label that applies to two-thirds of the varsity team.

LR bested Brewster 25-23, 26-24, 25-21, with displays of discipline and versatility.

Precision setting by Shy Marchand preceded several Carly Neddo kills like clockwork, a pattern that repeated with other duos through the contest, with the team unshaken even after the ref corrected the scoreboard, reversing a mistaken LR lead to favor Brewster 23-24.

The Raiders held the Bears there and won anyway, 26-24.

Coach Kasey Garvin said the "Brewster game was a great win for the girls, and it was a bonus that it was senior night."

LR took down Oroville on the Hornets home court last night (Oct. 24) in four sets, 25-8, 25-11, 23-25, 25-15. Riley Ayling had 14 aces in the game.

Lake Roosevelt will face Liberty Bell in Omak Saturday at noon in the 2023 District 6 2B Volleyball Tournament.

If they win, they'll play again at 3 p.m. against Okanogan, or at 4:30 versus either Tonasket or Brewster, who will have faced each other at 1:30.
