Grand Coulee Police
10/23 - Police used Narcan to help revive a man who was overdosing on fentanyl. His pulse became stronger and he awoke. An emergency medical crew assisted the man further upon their arrival.
10/25 - A Wenatchee Avenue property owner sent police security footage of a man walking onto her property and trying a doorknob. Police recognized the man and spoke to him at a place he stays on Kent Street. The man said he was expecting a large settlement and would be interested in buying a home, which is why he was at the empty and recently sold property. Police asked why he ignored the “No Trespassing” sign, and the man again said he was just looking at the property with interest in buying a home. He was cited with second-degree criminal trespass.
10/26 - Police performed a welfare check on a man staying at the Center Lodge Motel and found him to be doing OK. Police confirmed that Adult Protective Services and family members are communicating about the situation.
- A man with a machete or large knife on his hip was reported as being in the area of the library. No one said they were threatened by the man.
10/27 - A man was banned from the variety store after being reported for arguing with customers. Police spoke to him outside the store and noted a stick in his possession with electrical tape wrapped around one end. He was allowed to keep his stick and was not charged with any crimes.
- A brindle and white pit bull at large on Partello Parkway was found to be friendly to police and was left at large as the dog had no tags and there was no place to take it.
10/28 - A vehicle was pulled over on Midway Avenue for having expired tabs. The driver of the vehicle explained that a man walking nearby was the owner of the vehicle and she was driving it to the hospital. Coulee Dam and tribal police assisted in searching for the man, who was wanted on a warrant out of Lincoln County. When confronted at a gas station by police, the man took off on foot heading towards the back of a local business and later a nearby church, possibly adding the charge of resisting arrest to his rap sheet. The car the woman was driving was found to contain drug paraphernalia items. She was cited for the expired registration for which she said she would ask the owner about paying. She was free to leave.
- A Subaru Forester driving on Spokane Way was struck by a Toyota Tacoma turning left onto Spokane Way from Federal Avenue. The driver of the Toyota admitted fault and was cited for failure to yield and having no valid operator’s license. No one was hurt in the accident.
- Police spotted a man wanted on a warrant out of Lincoln County (for driving with a suspended license) go into a bar on Main Street. The man came outside the bar and was on his phone when police arrested him. He was allowed to smoke a cigarette and call his girlfriend before being taken to Lincoln County Jail.
Coulee Dam Police
10/22 - Police responded to Walnut Street where a husband and wife had been arguing while drinking and watching the Seahawks football game. The case was handed over to tribal police once they arrived.
- Police responded to a report of a suspicious person on Columbia Avenue and recognized a woman walking down the street. She was emotional and not listening to what an officer was saying. Her boyfriend arrived while police spoke with her. She said that God told her a dog had cancer at an address on Columbia Avenue. Eventually she agreed to leave and did so without incident.
10/24 - A vehicle lost a rear wheel on River Drive near Birch Street. Police performed traffic control as the disabled vehicle was blocking part of a lane on River Drive. The owner had requested a tow, and police left once the vehicle was removed.
10/26 - Police spoke to parents of two girls at Lake Roosevelt who are in a dating relationship and said that a group of boys said they would shoot them in the head for being in a homosexual relationship. The father of one of the girls said the school was made aware of the threats and did nothing about it. Police agreed to collect statements from the girls at a later time.
10/27 - Coulee Dam officers assisted Grand Coulee Police by pulling over a vehicle that had left Safeway following a theft and was heading towards Coulee Dam. Police pulled the vehicle over near River Drive and Roosevelt Way when they spotted it with a man driving the car, a woman in the passenger seat, plus a third passenger. Grand Coulee Police took over the case when they arrived. Noting that the woman was very pregnant, and the items stolen were considered necessary items such as food and hygiene items, a Grand Coulee and Coulee Dam officer decided to split the cost between them and pay for the approximately $260 worth of items after taking them back to Safeway, paying for them, and then returning the items to the people in the car. They explained this was the only time they would do so, and that the people in the car were banned from Safeway for one year.
