Inside this issue of The Star and inside Lake Roosevelt Schools this week are two things designed to help you remember what Veterans Day is all about. And if that were not enough, how about adding a good breakfast.
At Lake Roosevelt Schools this Thursday, the public is invited to a special assembly in honor of veterans at 9 a.m. in the gym. The assembly both honors the veterans and impresses on students the importance of understanding their commitment to the country.
At the annual assembly students personally honor attending veterans, and a presentation of local veterans is screened. To be included in that, photos and information can be emailed to datkins@gcdsd.org.
Inside this issue of The Star you'll find our annual special section honoring veterans with ties to the local community, featuring the in-service photographs of veterans and information on their service.
It's a section that grows a little each year as we add photos and names.
And about that breakfast: Local veterans are putting on their annual breakfast on Veteran's Day and offer it free. It will be held at the American Legion Post 157 hall in Electric City Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. You'll get ham or sausage, eggs, and pancakes - served by our local veterans.
