Raiders wrap up regular season

Postseason starts Friday in Chattaroy

The Raiders beat the Tigers in Tonasket Friday 34-14, in their last North Central 2B League game of the season.

“We had a good night throwing the football and a great defensive effort to get the win,” Raider Head Coach Geary Oliver said.

The Raiders gained 190 yards in the air, 166 on the ground. They made 41 tackles in the game.

“We played a tough Tonasket team that is better than their record would indicate,” Oliver said, noting two Tiger losses were to 1A teams and two more were to a couple of the best of 2B teams in the state.

That could include the Tigers’ 76-0 drubbing by the Crusaders of Northwest Christian Oct. 13, whom the Raider will meet this coming Friday.

Against Tonasket, Raider Quarterback Wyatt Egbert hit his target 16 times in 33 attempts for gains of 190 yards. He also caried the ball 10 times for another 45 yards, including two touchdowns.

Ivan Alejandre caught eight of those passes for 62 yards, intercepted a Tiger pass for a 26-yard return and touchdown, and ran a punt return 42 yards for another TD.

Terrell Bush gained 101 yards rushing seven times, including a 70-yard run. He caught two passes for another 44 yards.

The Raiders enter the postseason Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. meeting Northwest Christian on the field at Riverside High School in Chattaroy, 4120 East Deer Park Milan Road.

“We are looking forward to playing Northwest Christian Friday night, but not the bus ride,” Oliver said.

Taking US 2 and turning north at Reardan onto SR-231, it’s a roughly two-and-a-quarter-hour drive, according to Apple and Google maps.
