11/11 - An empty can of stewed tomatoes proved to be a ruse. A broken brake light led police to pull a vehicle over on Midway Avenue. A tribal police dog named Thor indicated there were drugs in the vehicle. The driver denied an officer’s request to search the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle being towed to the police station and parked in the garage secured with evidence tape. A county judge allowed a search warrant on the car, which revealed the empty stewed tomatoes can on which the bottom unscrewed to reveal a white powder police will test to see if it is an illegal substance. A large speaker was also found to conceal what appeared to be the corner of a plastic bag, something known to be used to contain narcotics. The empty can of stewed tomatoes was logged as evidence. The vehicle was released back to the owner.

Police looked for previous cases of stolen jewelry to see if the jewelry matched any cases but didn’t find any matches. Police also left a message for the woman who had turned in the jewelry to glean more information from her.
