Grand Coulee Police
11/29 - Police explained to the driver of a vehicle pulled over at Spokane Way and Federal Way that a blank trip permit that wasn’t even displayed was not a substitute for expired tabs. He was cited for driving with expired registration.
11/30 - Someone reported a red vehicle blocking part of the roadway at Burdin Boulevard and Second Street. They couldn’t describe the vehicle beyond it being red. Police didn’t see any vehicles blocking the roadway.
12/1 - A Subaru Legacy pulled onto Midway Avenue near a coffee stand with the driver’s view obstructed by a vehicle parked on the street. The Legacy hit the side of a Toyota Highlander. There were no injuries in the collision, but both vehicles suffered damage. Snow and ice were noted as conditions at the time. The drivers each arranged to have their vehicles towed. An officer gave one of them a ride to work.
12/2 - Police checked on a dog chained up outside of a Roosevelt Drive home and found the dog to be comfortable and to have a shelter it could use by its chain. Police were unable to contact the owner but left a message on a card to contact them and will tell the owner to make sure the dog’s water dishes aren’t frozen.
- A hospital staff member told a Grand Coulee officer about a Coulee Dam officer dropping off a woman who suffers from dementia at the hospital, then leaving and not picking her back up. Hospital staff were unable to find someone to pick the woman up. The Grand Coulee officer said he would relay the situation back to Coulee Dam Police as it relates to an ongoing case of theirs from Electric City.
- Police checked on a Boulder Avenue woman because her sister had been unable to contact her. She was fine and said she would call her sister.
12/3 - Police received a report of a man yelling at everything in the area of Midway and Federal Avenue. Police have received similar calls about the man. He told police his yelling was related to his aggressive exercise routine which he had been doing on Main Street. Although being wanted on multiple misdemeanor warrants, the jail refused to book him because of booking restrictions. The officer asked for an exception because of the frequency of calls related to the man but was denied the request. The man agreed to keep the volume and aggressiveness of his exercise routine down.
- A girl was banned from a residence because of an issue involving her agreeing to clean a mini fridge, then taking it, then returning it. The officer explained to the homeowner the fridge wasn’t stolen but agreed to tell the girl she was banned from the residence.
12/4 - Police performed a welfare check on a man at the Continental Heights apartments because he was picking a scab on his head. Police found he was doing fine, just with a scab on his head.
12/5 - Police assisted with a situation at the hospital in which a woman was lying on the floor upset, being loud, disturbing hospital operations and refusing to leave. After much todo, she left with her son-in-law.
- A man reported his wallet had been stolen from his truck overnight while parked on Weil Place.
- Grand Coulee Dam security told police about a man who tied his boat to the buoy line near Canal Service Road on Banks Lake. While allowed to fish there, people can’t tie their boat to the buoy line. Police got within shouting distance of the fisherman and explained this to him, and he complied with their directions.
12/6 - A mental health worker wanted to speak with a man on Midway Avenue. Police patted him down as he is known to carry various clubs, knives, and other weapons. He gave police a hammer and screwdrivers he had on his person. Coulee Dam officers then took custody of him, ending the Grand Coulee officer’s involvement. He was seen by a mental health professional at the hospital.
- Police told a man he was banned from multiple businesses in the area of the coffee stand on Midway Avenue after he was seen peering into vehicles. The man said he forgot and thanked the officer. The jail said they were full and wouldn’t book him on his multiple misdemeanor warrants denying the officer’s request to make an exception because of the frequent calls involving the man.
12/7 - A Roosevelt Drive dog owner said he has his children make sure the dog has food and water before he leaves for work after it was reported the dog didn’t have either. The dog appeared well nourished.
- Police spoke to a man and woman going through a divorce who had been arguing. They both agreed to be civil.
12/8 - Police spoke to a Dill Avenue woman who said her husband had shoved her and caused bruises on her arms from grabbing her. Police hadn’t been able to find the man at the time of the report.
12/10 - A “creepy” man was reportedly making customers uncomfortable at an SR-174 gas station before leaving in a van.
Coulee Dam Police
12/3 - Police spoke to a man about fraudulent charges made on a card of his at the casino. The man believes he knows who made the charges. Police were waiting for more information.
- Police spoke to the victims of vehicle prowling on Stevens Avenue in Electric City. Credit and debit cards were stolen as well as a makeup bag with about $200 worth of stuff in it. A glove was found inside the car, and police took a photo of a shoe print in the snow. Someone attempted to use a stolen card at the Four Corners gas station and police were able to view security footage and identify an SUV. Police later saw the SUV driving and pulled it over on Cardinal Road. The driver said her friend was going to buy gas for her but the card didn’t work. She didn’t know it was stolen. Police were able to identify the man and took note that he lives near the victims’ home.
12/4 - Coulee Dam Police assisted Colville Tribal Police in a domestic violence case on Front Street in Elmer City. A woman was found to be the primary aggressor in the situation and tribal police arrested her. The woman had screamed and allegedly kicked back toward an officer when learning she was being arrested.
- A man reported that his EBT card had been used at a gas station in Republic, WA and online for Walmart. The man suspected it may have been used by his daughter and her boyfriend who had visited for Thanksgiving. The gas station was able to gather security footage of the card being used. Police told the man to get in touch with the Ferry County Sheriff’s Office.
12/5 - Police spoke to victims of a burglary on Goodfellow Avenue. Someone had entered their home, likely through an unlocked window, and took multiple items including speakers, a laptop, a tablet, headphones, sunglasses, a spare key for a pickup, and more. Shoeprints led to a neighbor’s home. Police were unable to contact the neighbor, who is also the suspect in a nearby vehicle prowl case.
12/7 - A Lake Roosevelt High School student allegedly touched another student’s butt in a way that apparently startled him, then seemed to smell his own hand, security footage showed. The details of the case are being forwarded to the Okanogan County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for review and a possible assault charge for the incident. The student allegedly had also given the victim a “titty twister” in a previous incident.
- Police pulled a vehicle over on Columbia Avenue for having plates that didn’t match the vehicle they were on. It seemed that the Colville Tribes had not gone through the proper channels to have the plates be properly legal. The driver was upset about the situation. Police told him to let the tribes know about the situation as it is illegal to not have proper plates on a vehicle.
- Police executed a search warrant at a Goodfellow Avenue residence. No one was home at the time. Police breached the door, seized stolen property they found that had been specified in the search warrant, and left a copy of it on the kitchen counter.
- A suspected burglary on Hill Avenue in Grand Coulee turned out to be a false alarm.
12/8 - Police told people on Roosevelt Avenue in Electric City that they couldn’t just lock out their roommate, that the landlord would need to evict him, but to call police if he was breaking the law. Police told the roommate to try and get along with everyone. He was grateful to have a warm home to live in.
- A Lake Roosevelt Elementary student accidently bumped into another student who then pushed him and slammed his head into the wall, his mother told police. The boy had not reported it to school staff, but his mother took him to the hospital later when he was acting strangely and complained of head pain. She told police she would talk to school staff at a later time and police told her an officer could accompany her.
12/9 - Police performed extra patrols in the Coulee Boulevard area of Electric City following a request.
- A woman’s rear windshield was broken while parked on Grand Avenue in Electric City. A large rock was found inside the vehicle. She suspects her ex-husband who was upset regarding a child custody hearing. Police were unable to contact him at the time of the report but intend to follow up with him.
12/10 - A driver was pulled over near Coulee Playland for driving a truck without any headlights or taillights working on the vehicle just after midnight. The man showed signs of intoxication and said he had been at the tavern. He refused to give a breath sample and, later, a blood sample after police had been granted a warrant to collect it at the hospital. The man was not restrained in order to take his blood. He was simply taken to jail for driving under the influence and for obstruction.
